Must See: FOX News’ Attack on Black America
*NOTE: Update to “Fox News’ Attack on Black America”
AlterNet reports:
CNN has announced that they (and ostensibly NOT Fox News) will partner with the Congressional Black Caucus for the Jan. ‘08 presidential debate in South Carolina. Expect the rhetoric to be ratcheted up from the ABSOLUTELY NOT RIGHT WING FOX network…This does not mean, however, that the CBC has decided to reject FOX entirely, just for this single debate… Sorry for the false alarm…
But the point stands: Anyone should be encouraged to boycott FOX.
(SEE VIDEO BELOW)
*INITIAL REPORT:
Enough is Enough.
You can join the fight at ColorOfChange.org where they’ve issued a petition asking the Congressional Black Caucus to break its agreement with FOX to host some presidential debates.

Does the Black Caucus really think Fox News is advancing their mission?
Color of Change Reports:
Sen. Obama has stopped giving interviews to Fox reporters because of repeated attacks on his character and intimations that he has connections to terrorism. Even the Democratic Party in Nevada backed out of doing a debate with Fox because of remarks about Obama, but the CBC Institute hasn’t moved.
Here’s a sampling of the kind of offensive messages put out on Fox:
* Commenting on Hannity & Colmes about the speakers at Coretta Scott King’s funeral, featured guest Mary Matalin said, “I think these civil rights leaders are nothing more than racists” who are keeping “their African-American brothers enslaved.”
* Jesse Lee Peterson, a regular guest who is Black said: “Kwanzaa is a racist, pagan, Marxist holiday” and then claimed that the “so-called seven principles of Kwanzaa are socialist, Marxist, separatist ideas… if a white man started a white holiday, seven-day white holiday, black folks would be burning down America.”
* Erik Rush, another Black guest, labeled Sen. Obama’s church as cultish and separatist for espousing values of black unity and black empowerment (Fox regularly selects Black guests it knows will undermine Black causes). Rush said he replaced the word “black” with “white” in the church’s mission statement and “Suddenly, I was looking at this really scary doctrine. You know, it was something that you’d see in more like a cult or an Aryan Brethren church… I would go beyond saying they’re Afrocentric. They’re African centric. They refer to themselves as an African people and that somewhat disturbs me from the viewpoint of well, do they consider themselves Americans? Do they consider themselves Christians?”
Oh, boy…

Are you sure you really listened to the video and the points made? or are you just listening to other people tell you that this is an attack on Black America?
We use the white man as a scapegoat so we can justify to ourselves and others why we aren't advancing, when we need to look inside ourselves and see what positive steps we actually take. We get offensive about everything that has to deal with black. We need to stop wanting handouts. Dr. King and Malcom X wanted us to integrate, not to keep setting up "Black" organizations to separate ourselves all the time.
In our black culture, we praise things that keep us down, like drug dealers, hustlers, rappers in videos, etc. We look for shortcuts. And some say "We have no choice but to hustle." That is a bunch of crap. How about starting somewhere, even if it is McDonalds. It's not forever. Then take steps to fulfill the big picture.
We need to stop pointing fingers and see that we aren't making positive efforts to progress. We keep ourselves down with black on black crime, violence. If we would unite, we could be taken seriously. The point that is made about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is a perfect example! Although in some aspects the media did portray the blacks as stealing tv’s-all the things NOT needed for survival and the whites only stealing bread, water, and baby formula (the necessities)! Still-What were black people doing stealing flat screen tv's and other electronics-again, just putting the stereotype back out there.
Stereotypes are stereotypes because they are so prevalent; they didn't just come out of nowhere.
Other groups are going to continue to stereotype us and continue to do it because we aren't changing. We still remain uneducated, stay in school! Read books, stop going home to watch useless music videos- it doesn't hurt to have diversity in your life!!!!
We are having to many babies out of wedlock, too many black mothers and fathers abuse the welfare systems just because they don't want to have to work. There is the stereotype of Laziness!
Everyone is focused on Barrack Obama just because he is Black. Let's just hope if he is voted into office it is for the right reasons, and that he can make a change in the world.
