Rock-n-roll racism
Why is everybody criticizing gangsta rap music for sexism and violence when rock-n-roll boasts a similar brand of misogyny and hate, argues Dr. Edward Rhymes in a report for Black Agenda Report.
Rhymes says “The conversation is always framed in the form of this question: ‘What is rap’s influence on American society and culture?’ Never do we ask, ‘What has been society’s role in shaping and influencing hip-hop?’”
