White Liberal Blogger Goes Too Far, Depicts Michelle Obama Being Lynched

michelleobamalynch.jpg

H/T What About Our Daughters

Barack Obama already asked his opponents to lay off his wife, and now, it seems he may need to tell his supporters the same thing. A DailyKos contributor, ONECITIZEN, created this horrible image of Michelle Obama being lynched by the Ku Klux Klan in an attempt to illustrate the ways Barack Obama’s opponents were using statements made by his wife against him in his campaign for president.

This image is undoubtedly disgusting and racist, and another flagrant example of white liberal bloggers getting it wrong. Racial justice is more than party affiliation; it is more than fighting against conservative policies; it is about acknowledging all systems that would allow an image like this (since removed from the site) to go unchecked.

That is just too horrible for words. I can't believe an Obama supporter did that! What a nightmare it would be for a Black person to see an image of herself like that.

I have maintained for years that many of the "liberals" in America are just as racist/sexist and the conservatives.

This picture is an afront to me as a Black woman~period.

The fact that a Black person is surrounded by Klansmen while they are tied to a tree, immediately made me think this was about white men putting a person of color into their place.
However, the fact that she is naked, and her hands, not neck, are encircled with rope - reminds me of the sexualized bondage genre - where all uppity women need is a good forced f*** to turn them into the happy, subservient beings that God intended.
Oh, and it took me over five minutes to actually try to read the text on the pic - I still say I missed whatever "message" it was meant to convey.

This depiction of Mrs Obama being lynched is truly reprehensible. It should be denounced and repudiated, no matter who originated it...liberal or conservative, "supporter" or opponent! It is the exact opposite of what Sen Obama stands for and his vision for One America. Instead of sinking into gutter politics like the right-wingers have done in past elections using Karl Rovian methods, we must reinforce Sen Obama's ideals, vision, and strategy for American's restoration..at home and abroad.

The question then becomes what logic can be found in REPUBLISHING it.

To describe and ridicule it is one thing, but to complain about the image and then repost it is a perpetuation of the work of those exact same "systems" of White superiority. How does one criticize the initiator of what one has re-initiated.

The purpose of republishing it is for news purposes and putting it into proper context.

This is beyoind sick and stupid. Whatever made the author think he/she was making any kind of point that made sense using these hateful disgusting images? Seriously, what the hell does a black woman in the public eye, even a woman who may be our next First Lady, have to do to get some damn respect online? I mean what the hell was the author smoking/drinking when they put this BS together? Whatever point they were trying to make/whatever the hell they're trying to say is completely lost on me after looking at this. The only race--baiting and fear-mongering I see are those Klan images being used in the first damn place. And they can't claim that they didn't know what those images were used for historically, because they've being used the same way they were used back in the day. Whoever created this needs to seriously explain exactly what the hell they thought they were doing, because this is some serious BS.

I am a republican, italian, jewish and perceived as gay. I see predjudiced from the right and left every day. A party affilliation does not make or not make you a bigot.

There is much evil out there. What is happening to politics is horrible. I personally am tired of complaining about bigotry. No one listens to the average person.

So unfortunately , the real victims are being ignored

It's always a tough call whether to re-publish things like this. Personally, I find this image so uncomfortable that I would consider removing it, at least for now while the family's security is still very much at stake.

I am a Conservative Republican and find the depiction of Michelle Obama being held to a lynching absolutely disgusting, appalling and an abomination. It is things of this caliber that polarize the election on color/race and cause the real issues to be ignored in the process, it could be the cause of the wrong man being elected.

I would hope people would discount this trash and search further for issies/polices and history before voting.
