Lettin’ the Racism Hang Out
My roommate wakes up every morning and scans the web for the best news of the day. By the time I wake up, she has usually pared it down to one, oh so special story, to brighten my day. This morning’s number was particularly disturbing: Amy Winehouse’s racist version of “Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.”
Now I could go on about the racial epithets employed by Winehouse but they speak for themselves. She now joins an ever-growing list of celebrities whose racism and bigotry are caught on tape. Hopefully Winehouse will learn a lesson when people stop buying her records, going to shows and giving her awards.
