This November Vote With Paper

electronic voting

It’s not a conspiracy theory to say that electronic voting machines are easily hacked, their results are readily manipulated, and it is frighteningly easy to commit voter fraud with them. Actually, after reading the report and watching these videos, I’m very, very scared.

For the technically-minded, there’s a great deal of information here. Even if you don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of technology, the YouTube videos at the above link very clearly demonstrate how quickly and efficiently votes can be changed and these kinds of machines can be almost entirely disassembled without losing the appearance of propriety.

In a very high-stakes election season, with well-documented voter fraud and disenfranchisement taking place in both 2004 and 2000 explicitly against people of color all over the country, the only safe bet is a paper ballot. And unfortunately, that’s if you’re allowed to vote at all.
