The discussions and debates on race were very intriguing. Some of the themes discussed were:
• Racism, what does that mean? What are the different forms of racism?
• Addressing the misconception that because we have elected an African American president that must mean we are post-racial.
• Is the real problem classism, racism or an integration of both?
• Where do we include poor White citizens?
• Globalization, not just taking advantage of citizens of other countries but also possibly transferring our unique form of racism onto them.
All in all the conference was a great learning experience.
