A joint study by the Northeast University and Alternative Schools Network, published Tuesday, shows that 6.2 million students dropped out of school in 2007. The Sing Tao Daily reports that this figure represents 16 percent of 16 to 24-year-olds across the United States. The drop-out rates are 27.5 and 21 percent in Latino and African-American communities, while the rate is 12.2 percent in white high school students, according to the study.
