Jobless Lose Food Stamps Because Of $25 Stimulus Check
Obama’s stimulus plan has backfired on some laid-off workers who are no longer eligible for food stamps. Because the income cap on food stamps did not rise with the $25 increase in check amounts, some unemployed workers are struggling to not only eat, but pay bills and rent.
Mexico Signs Border Agreement with U.S.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Augustin Carstens, Mexico’s Minister of Finance and Public Credit, signed an agreement on Monday that would increase cooperation around information sharing and customs enforcement along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Neo-Nazis Are In the Army Now
Army interviewers turned a blind eye on Forrest Fogarty’s neo-nazi tattoos on his body and accepted him into the army without any questions. After attempts by his former girlfriend to prove to the army that Fogarty was indeed a white-supremacist racist by sending pictures of him demonstrating at white power rallies, the army still maintained he was fit to fight in Iraq.
Administration Plans to Scale Back Real ID Law
The Department of Homeland Security is considering replacing the Real ID law with the Pass ID. The new ID would not require new databases to cross check information on immigration status and social security. But it does require a picture photograph, signature, an individual bar code and a cross check with a federal database, which are all elements included in the Real ID.
